FY 2007-08 Annual Report | Become a Supporter


As a supporter of the Arts Council of Beaufort County, you will demonstrate that you share our vision that creativity, arts & culture are absolutely essential to:

  • the future of Beaufort County;
  • our overall quality of life;
  • the quality of our educational systems; and
  • individual, community and economic growth, development and prosperity.

The ACBC was founded in 1991 to promote and nurture the arts in Beaufort County.

ACBC's Vision is to position and maintain Beaufort County as a vibrant arts community and destination through active marketing, service to current arts organization and artists, and advocacy for the arts.

To accomplish our mission and vision, the ACBC has three guiding program strategies which lead us to appropriate partnerships across the County:

Cultural Tourism
Programming includes ~ ArtNews; www.BeaufortCountyArts.com; Public Art; Economic Impact Studies; Port Royal Free Performance Series

Arts Incubation
Programming includes ~ Community Arts Grants; "Get Your Art Out Emerging Artist Initiative;" Working Artist Studios; Community Arts Gallery, Workshop & Performance Space

Arts Education
Programming includes ~ Kennedy Center Partners in Education; Teaching Artist Training Institute

ACBC supports all artists and arts programs county-wide to: reach their audience, promote their work, and encourage dialogue to foster growth in the community.

ACBC ~ Ensuring that the Arts are woven into the fabric of everyday life in Beaufort County!

  • Over the last 6 years, ACBC Community Arts Grant program has awarded almost $80,000 supporting arts events/activities involving more than 500 artists/art organizations for a combined audience exceeding 82,000
  • ACBC's ArtNews is the premier Arts & Culture magazine of the lowcountry ~ the backbone of our cultural tourism strategy in Beaufort County
  • www.BeaufortCountyArts.com proves to the world that Beaufort County has a vibrant and varied art scene.
  • The "Ever Expanding Arts Calendar" is accessed by residents and visitors alike looking for creative activities.
  • "Business of the arts" forums that help the art organizations and artists help themselves
  • "Get Your Art Out Emerging Artist" Training
  • ACBC works with local governments, chambers of commerce, the County School District and other non-profit organizations create programs that "weave the arts into the fabric of every day life in Beaufort County."

All of ACBC's programs and services are provided absolutely free or for a minimal fee

ACBC 2007-08 Annual Report


The Arts Council of Beaufort County thanks all of the FY 07/08 Annual Operating Fund Supporters, Grantors, & Partners

On Wednesday, June 18, 2007, the ACBC held its Annual Meeting & Annual Award Ceremony. Over 100 attendees celebrated the conclusion of the 2007/08 Fiscal Year, were updated on the "State of the Arts" and purchased "reinstated art" donated by local collectors. A great time was had by all. Many thanks to all who attended.

Congratulations to the 2008 Annual Arts Council of Beaufort County award winners! ~ Liza Hill, "City of Beaufort Mayor's Award for the Arts;" Van Willis, "Town of Port Royal Mayor's Award for the Arts;" Bob Masteller, "Town of Hilton Head Island Mayor's Award for the Arts;" 303 Associates, "Arts Business Partner of the Year;" Etta Mann, "Arts Volunteer of the Year," and Michelle Maynard, "Arts Educator of the Year."
